Backup Utility
This Backup Utility is ideal for making backups from your laptop or desktop to an external hard drive or another networked drive. It is an ideal lightweight utility that can be configured to perform full or incremental backups from any source to any available destination folder. Java based it can run on any operating system that supports a JVM.
Features
- Full or incremental backups.. Full backups will copy all files from a source folder to a destination folder. An incremental backup will only copy files that have been changed or created since last backup. Backup Utility also has options to only backup new files
- Mirror deletion. Backup Utility can also be configured to perform mirror deletion where files or folders on the destination are removed if they no longer exist on the source.
- Configurable You can define multiple backup events where each event defines a source folder, a destination folder and a backup rule which defines either a full backup or one a set of incremental backup types.
- Logging Backup Utility will also log the activity of the backup with the format and level of detail of the logging definable.
- Platform Support Backup Utility is a Java application and so can run on any platform that can run a JVM including Windows, Linux, Machintosh, Unix.
- Scheduling Backup Utility is launched from the command line and so can easily be used with any 3rd party scheduling tool including the Windows and Linux scheduling utilities. It is also possible to define different scheduling frequencies for different Backup Events and so have one folder being backed up daily and other folders backed up weekly.
