Introduction to Boest 1.0
Boest is an application for stress testing an SAP BusinessObjects Enterprise deployment. It can execute multiple parallel actions against a BOE deployment imitating multiple requests from simultaneous users.
It has been specifically designed to test report viewing and execution and so can be used to establish a maximum upper load that the system can take.
Get Started
Download the application from Sourceforge. The application is written in Java and does not require installation rather the package is unzipped to a suitable location from which you can execute it from. This typically is a client machine on the same network as the BOE server rather than on the BOE server itself. The installation guide contains full details of how to install and prerequisites etc.
Once installed read the user guide for instructions on creating and executing tests. And then read the analysis guide for instructions on how to analyse the results of a test.
Get Involved
The application is open source and you can use it royalty free as well as reuse some or all of the code in your own applications. You can also contribute to the original code to enhance the application further. A list of future features can be found at Soureforge.net.
Read the development guide to get an understanding of the architecture of the application.
You can also suggest new features or help out with documentation or testing.
